MASS EFFECT is a high-intensity performance by a cast of 7 international performers and 11 community members. Together they push their physical limits, deal with exhaustion, motivation, and group dynamics in group endurance activity. Group dynamics manifest through spatial patterns carved out amidst complex running formations. Team collaboration becomes the key element for the group to be tuned into the same bodily rhythm as they push to their physical thresholds. Together they move beyond exhaustion as they find their second wind. A second wind is an unpredictable phenomenon experienced in sports and long distance running
whereby an athlete who is out of breath and too tired to continue suddenly finds the strength to press on at top performance with less exertion.

 Initially developed as an experiment in finding new audiences for contemporary dance in Wales, PSO has evolved into a performance event where everyone in the theatre becomes part of the creative team.

TaikaBox has built a choreographic system that integrates with custom-built digital tools to enable audience members to decide what the show is about, and how movement, sound, light and image contribute to telling a story. Each event is unique, with the starting point decided democratically, the audience using their smartphones and mobile devices to contribute stories, vote on which to use, and choose how to process them into dance.

An hour-long performance may work with between 4 and 20 stories, depending on how deep the audience wants to go, and there is potential to revisit everyone’s favourite section to develop it further for a ‘show’ at the end.

Riisuttuna (Bare) is a wild hybrid of contemporary dance and contemporary music.

of Schumacher’s two week long improvisation work with local dancers (STRUT members) and musicians. Michael will activate the nooks and crannies of the The Blue Room Theatre – flooding the space with music, dance and instant composition.

Peripheral vision is a dancefilm which examines interaction between nature and human. The film is also exploring human distrust towards each other. The film won a main prize in category Best Film in Dance Film Festival InShadow, Portugal. It has been screened also Desterro Festival, Brazil, Dance Live, Scotland and Sans Souci Dance Film Festival, USA.

Det centrale i balletten Svanesøen er ballerinaens graciøse fremstilling af svanen med de smukke, lange lemmer og den elegante hals. Pingviner har hverken lange lemmer eller en hals. Det er præcis afsættet for danseforestillingen. Antonina var følelsesmæssigt ligeså handicappet som en pingvin, når hun forgæves rakte ud efter Tjajkovskij. I THIS IS NOT SWAN LAKE… sætter fire dansere hendes længsel i scene og garanterer smuk, rørende og komisk dans, når det er bedst.

Choreographer Tomi Paasonen’s piece "Saturday dances” is a personal yet universal piece which is dedicated to his father, sea captain Pauli Paasonen. The piece moves like a mental landscape that attempts to capture the spirit, memory and character of this world traveler.

The work also deals with the border of life and death as a physical event. Breath, wind, childhood memories and ocean currents are used both as inspiration for the physical expressions and as metaphors for the otherworldliness of a mind transitioning from here to the beyond. Both by intertwining and contrasting emotion with physicality, the choreography gives form to important themes in terms of human life, such as the inevitability of death and its significance as part of a full life.

With OPTIKE, Anu Sistonen will undertake a research project examining staging of her physical and artistic language through lighting. Together with Brice Durand, lighting designer, she will propose work lines as a basis for transcription of movement to light and visuality.



The main idea is to compare and contrast dance movement with the concepts of border, spatial limits and contrast. Time working on this project will be spent to exploring, experimenting, manipulating and developing a physical language.

Vimmaa is a contemporary dance thunderstorm, where dancers try to avoid getting hit by the movement lightning or being drenched by the emotion rain. Vimmaa is an extremely physical piece for four dancers and a drummer. The choreography is a precise and sweaty mix of motion, emotion, rhythm and character that reflects on what we see, feel, read, say and are in life for each other. The duets develop from plain to dramatic and from fierce to delicate. Vimmaa mixes movement, explores emotions and piles up meaning.

Astrid Lindgrenin Peppi Pitkätossu on hurmaava tarina räväkästä, itsenäisestä ja sanavalmiista tytöstä. Normeista piittaamaton Peppi käyttäytyy aikuisia kohtaan kurittomasti, mutta toisille lapsille hän on aina pyyteetön ja oikeudenmukainen. Mukaansatempaavien laulujen, hassuttelujen ja vauhdikkaan menon siivittämä tarina ilahduttaa ja sopii koko perheelle! Esityksen musiikista vastaa liveorkesteri.

ROSE: Rite of Spring – Extended 2
The loss of innocence is like in the male version RITE of SPRING - ESTENDED also the focus theme in this performance, in which the motif is transferred to the woman's universe and is told through the ceremonies and rituals that characterize it.
Although the basic musical structure is the same, the result is completely different - not least because the music in this female version is played live, in it’s original piano version.

Tanssiteatteriteos 1800-luvun lopun muotidiagnoosista, hysteriasta, ja sen eriskummallisista hoitomuodoista. Hysterialle pidettiin alttiina luonnetyyppiä, jolle oli ominaista mielikuvituksen rikkaus, lapsenomainen itsekeskeisyys, suggestioalttius ja teatraalinen käytös. Hysterian luultiin johtuvan kohdun liikkumisesta, joten sitä pidettiin vain naisten sairautena.

 Between Coil and Recoil is a one-hour long performance that features two, three or four dancers and two sound artists. It is designed to be an immersive experience for an audience of up to 20 people. Audience and dancers share the same space, and everyone wears headphones.

The work is site-responsive, in that the majority of the soundscape is created live from mixing various microphones that are placed around the building and worn by the dancers. TaikaBox also aim to incorporate one or two local performers in the event – particularly when performing in other countries – in order to expand the language possibilities of the work.

A solo work created in international artist residency program STRUT Dance - The National Choreographic Centre of Western Australia. The assent orange was performed in MoveMe Festival Perth November 2014 , Australia and also in JoJo Oulu Dance Centre's Pomppulauta forum May 2015.
